Inter Allies forward, Evans Mensah, has fired the first salvo ahead of the crunch game with league leaders Accra Hearts of Oak, vowing to break the Phobian iron- grip on the four-week old competition.
Mensah is expected to lead the attack when the Tema based Allies side host the high-flying Rainbow boys at the Tema Stadium on Sunday.
Hearts appears to have gathered the momentum that made them one of the fiercest sides on the local scene.
That has seen them bag 10 points out of a possible 12, lifting them above previous leaders, Wa All Stars and still unbeaten.
Despite the general good display by the team, a lot of plaudits have gone to the defensive set up built around skipper Robin Gnagne, Owusu Bempah, Kennedy Appiah and Richard Akrofi, conceding just a goal against the six scored.
From all indications, the Phobians are enjoying a good run of form but the inform Allies striker who has scored once and received the Man-of-the-match accolade on two occasions insists he and his teammates are ready to hand coach Kenichi’s men their first defeat when they clash at the Tema Astro Park.
The former Okwawu United marksman says his side is ready to return to winning ways, having dropped some points at home already but believes that securing a win over the league leaders will define their season.
“Some people think Hearts are unbeatable this season by the way they are playing but we would repeat the feat over them last season. We have the men to do that and we’ll do just that.”
“We all know Hearts of Oak is a good team, and playing against them wouldn’t be an easy task especially with their current form. But we are an equally good side with good players as well and with the help of our coach Herbert Addo we can win against them on Sunday”, he told Asempa FM yesterday.
