Intense teacher-parent collaboration advocated

Mr. Daniel Budu Asiedu, Ga West Municipal Director of Education, has tasked parents to collaborate with teachers to enhance quality education in the country.

He said ensuring quality education was a shared responsibility and the role of various stakeholders could not be underestimated.

Mr. Asiedu said this at the Speech and Prize Giving Day of California Star School Complex, a private basic school in Accra.

The event had the theme, “Basic education in the 21st century — the role of parents and stakeholders.”

According to Mr. Asiedu, although much was expected of teachers, parents should endeavour to guide, discipline and provide the needs of their children to encourage them to excel academically.

He said there was the need for constant communication between parents and teachers to encourage open access to information on their wards.

Mr. Edward Manu, Proprietor of the school, said the school aimed at laying a strong foundation at the crèche, nursery, kindergarten and primary levels, to enable its graduates to effectively compete at the junior and senior high school levels.

Mr Manu appealed for support to address some of its challenges such as the lack of a library, recreational facilities and a bus.

As part of the celebration, an ICT laboratory was inaugurated for the school.—
