The Presiding bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Most Reverend Titus Awotwi Pratt, has admonished Christians to make it a priority to instill moral discipline in their wards to prepare them to lead responsible lives in future.

“Instilling practical morals is important as it prepares the child to lead a good life in future. Most opportunities to teach moral values arise naturally of their own accord and cannot simply be orchestrated so it is very important for parents to spend quality time with their children so that they don’t miss teachable moments when they occur,” he said

He was speaking at the Ninth biennial conference and 40th anniversary celebration of the Methodist Church Ministers’ Spouses Association (MMISPA) at the Pentecost Convention Centre, at Gomoa Fetteh, in the Awutu Senya East District, of the Central Region, last Friday.

He stressed the need for the wives of reverend ministers to also concentrate on praying for their husbands fervently since they (husbands) barely had time for themselves because of their duties.

Most Rev Awotwi Pratt stated that it was very necessary for mothers to take up the duty of the upbringing of the children “since the mother is the first teacher of the child”.

The Presiding Bishop  commended members of the MMISPA for their philanthropic activities which include, donations to orphanages and supporting widows amongst others, and urged them to continue with the worthy cause to attract blessings from the Lord because the creator takes delight in such acts.

On her part, the Director of Salt and Light Ministries, Reverend Dr. Joyce Aryee advised wives of Ministers of God, to make their matrimonial homes peaceful environment for their husbands.

She said “working for human beings is not an easy task. These men of God travel long distances and are engaged in a lot of activities for the promotion of the kingdom of God so it is important their spouses maintain a harmonious environment at home where they can run to, relax and continue with their service to God almighty and mankind”.

Reverend Dr. Joyce Aryee admonished Christians to prioritise the act of evangelism in their quest to win more souls for the kingdom of God.
