ICGC holds ‘Lifewalk 2015’

life walkHundreds of Ghanaians at the weekend defied the early morning showers to honour the 11th edition of the International Central Gospel Church’s (ICGC), Life Walk, aimed at promoting the health and physical well-being of members.

The 12-kilometer walk, brought together church members and the general public to help raise funds to support the Children’s Cancer Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, which the church has adopted for the past four years.

In a speech read on his behalf by Rev. Morris Appiah, the General Overseer of the church, Dr. Mensa Otabil urged Ghanaians to holistically develop their spirit, soul and body, adding that exercise plays a key role in becoming a sound human being.

“While we live increasingly busy and sedentary lives, there is a need for every Ghanaian to deliberately commit to an exercise and fitness regime, combined with healthy eating to have a better and quality of life.”

Since 2011, ICGC has supported the Children’s Cancer Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital with monthly contributions for medication and treatment drugs as well as an annual support of GH¢84,000, the largest by any individual or group to the unit.
