AN amount of GH¢50, 000 was realised at a presidential ball and fund-raising dinner held by the Ho Rotary Club here at the weekend, in aid of a project to redevelop the children’s park in the municipality.
The event was under the theme: ‘Rotary serving humanity, our community, our focus’.
The Reverend Dr. Cyril Fayose, the club’s president, said they intended to bring the park to modern standards with the appropriate facilities to enable the children to explore their immediate environment and identify their natural talents.
According to him, the three-year project would be carried out in partnership with the Ho Municipal Assembly and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
Rev. Dr. Fayose noted that the designated space had become a haven for drug addicts and robbers in recent time, as a result of which “there is no place for our children to play and just be themselves”.
He said the Rotary Club of Ho was committed to the wholesome growth and development of children in the community, through the provision of a safe environment, as well as spiritual, moral and financial support.
Rev. Dr. Fayose, therefore, appealed to other organisations and individuals to support the club in various ways to implement the project.
Meanwhile, he said that Rotary Centre in Ho was set be developed into an events hosting ground and a commercially viable centre.
The guest of honour was Mr. Ernest Mawuli Agbesi, Managing Director of the Ghana Commercial Bank.
He said that investing in the welfare of children was an appropriate investment which would benefit the entire nation.
