Mr. Kwame Boakye-Yiadom, Country Director, You of Choice, a non-governmental organization (NGO) has donated 15,520 textbooks to the Ho Municipal Assembly for distributed to schools in the Municipality.
Making the presentation at the Assembly premises, the Country Director explained that the programme was designed to enhance and increase literacy among children.
He said: “we live in a society now where the rate of illiteracy is high due to lack of making reading a habit.”
Mr. Boakye-Yiadom believesd that an investment in knowledge always pays and therefore it is chiefly though books that we enjoy intercourse with superior minds.
He urgedd stakeholders in education, parents and teachers to collaborate and complement one another in a bid to give our children the best form of education.
Receiving the books on behalf of the Assembly, Mrs. Fafa Adinyirah, Ho Municipal Chief Executive thanked the donor for the gesture.
“We cannot always build the future for our youth without books”, adding that the books would be distributed to schools in the municipality to enhance teaching and learning.
Mr. Dickson Kofi Pi-Bansah, Head of Human Resource Management and Development Unit, Ho Municipal Education Directorate noted that the books have come at the right time when many of the schools are without books.
It would therefore go a long way to improve quality education in the Municipality.
