Most workers of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) at the various Regional Coordinating Councils, Municipal and District Assemblies in Ho are on strike over the non-payment of their market premium, reports Kafui Gati.
When The Ghanaian Times visited some of the offices under those departments they were closed with only some few workers at post.
The leadership of the regional officers were also not around to explain the circumstances leading to the strike and the impact on production.
However some of the workers claimed that they were members of the Local Government Workers’ Union (LGWU) and have been directed by their General Secretary not to embark on any strike action.
It will be recalled that CLOGSAG threatened to embark on strike if the government fails to pay them their market premium which is determined on people with highly scarce skills which are also critical in the growth and sustainability of the economy
