The items, meant for an athletics championship to be held in Sunyani from September 1-2, included trophies, jerseys, polo shirts, medals as well as consumables.
The athletics festival is just an aspect of a National Sports Festival to be organised by the GES in Sunyani which HFC Bank pledged to support to the tune of GH¢120,000.
Yesterday’s gesture was in fulfillment of the pledge made by the Bank which Managing Director; Robert Le Hunte said reaffirms its commitment to the development of youth athletics in Ghana.
He revealed that the company in June signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to assist in the development of athletics in the country.
“We presented the items in fulfillment of that pledge hoping it would go a long way to ensure athletics is developed in the country,” he stated.
He added that the presentation would also serve as the launch of the campaign for medals at the next Olympic Games dubbed “Ghana Tokyo Gold (GTG).”
Director of Sports at the GES, Mr. Emmanuel Domenya thanked HFC Bank for fulfilling its promise of supporting youth athletics.
He said the GES would work together with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to ensure Ghana excels at the next Games in Tokyo.
