The Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Salifu Saeed, has appealed to banks in the area to assist address violent conflicts in the region, by collaborating with the government agencies to create jobs for the unemployed youth in area.


He argued that sustainable jobs for the youth would not only reduce poverty in the region, but would help minimise the frequent violent conflicts.


Mr. Saeed noted that, most of the violence in the region were as a result lack of jobs and that finding jobs for the youth would halt violent conflicts.


The minister made the appeal on Friday in Tamale when he visited workers of the various institutions in the Tamale metropolis.


Mr Saeed hinted that the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), was fashioning out a strategy to encourage and support the bank to finance some viable ventures in the region.



He said the government’s commitment to creating jobs for the unemployed in the country would continue to be a mirage without effective collaborations of the institutions such banks.


Mr. Saeed, therefore. entreated the managers of banks and other financial institutions to open their doors to the state agencies to ensure smooth and successful implementation of the financial policies.



He assured the banks of the RCC`s commitment to create the enabling environment for their businesses to flourish.


Mr. Saeed, thereby, urged them to initiate measures to extend loans to young entrepreneurs in the region.


He also urged them to come with measures to educate their clients on how to expand their businesses.


Mr. Saeed mentioned the planting for food and jobs, one district one factory and  and one village one dam policies that banks can assist.


He further mentioned tourism industry as an area banks can assist the region to promote.
