Hearts will return to winning ways -Odotei Sowah

Odotei SowahAccra Hearts of Oak’s Managing Director, Mr. Vincent Oddotei, has urged supporters of the club to be patient in their bid to see the club take its rightful place in Ghana football.

Mr. Sowah told Accra based Citi Fm Sports that the club has made giant strides towards returning to its glory days this season after finishing third in the just ended Ghana Premier League.

According to the experienced football administrator, he has realised on his second return to the club that things have improved greatly and what was needed now was support and patience from supporters and not the constant agitations from fans.

The Phobians started the just ended season in a fabulous way, going five games without blemish and revived hopes of winning the title after seven years in the wilderness.

However, constant squabbles between management and the technical team led by Japanese trainer, Kenichi Yatsuhatsi dumped their chances into tatters, with Wa All Stars conquering the Phobians at home in their maiden defeat serving as the floodgate for others to hurt their pride.

Subsequent replacements, Portuguese Sergio Traquil and Yaw Preko failed in their bid to retain the Kenichi display leading to another woeful display at Sogakope where WAFA walloped the Phobians 3-0.

That, notwithstanding, they managed a third place finish which Odotei Sowah insists was not bad considering the current circumstances of the club.

He said the fact that the club was in the hunt for the title until the last two games meant they are making steps towards rediscovering themselves and will need time to realise that dream.

“I’ll always disagree with people who say Hearts is performing badly. The team finished 13th before I joined and within that short period, we have improved to third. What it means is that with time, we’ll get there.”

“For the first time, we have established the youth team, Auroras which is doing quite well. We have attracted GOIL to our fold as sponsors.”

According to him, the structure of the club has changed so that they can build a winsome team.
