Hearts, Kotoko oldies for Indece Cup

Players of Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko who featured for the two clubs from 2000 till date will battle for supremacy in a special Independence game at the Accra Stadium on March 6.

The game, according to officials of My Sports Organization, organizers of the match, seeks to re enact nostalgic memories of the two clubs among their followers.

Former Kotoko’s goal poacher, Eric Bekoe is expected to lead the Porcupine Warriors, while Prince Tagoe, also noted for his scoring prowess will make an appearance for the Phobians.

A member of the organizing team, Mr. Anim Addo of UTV fame said “the clash will not only renew the age long rivalry of the two sides freshen the memories of fans about some of the talented players that featured for the clubs.”

“No doubt we are expecting to see very good football from the two sides taking into account the galaxy of players the two sides have produced from 2000 to 2019.”

Some of the prominent names to have featured for the Phobians include Charles Taylor, Don Bortey, Adja Tetteh, Osei Kuffour, Edmund Copson, Charles Allotey, Acquah Harrison, Ishmael Addo, Louis Agyeman and others.

Those for Kotoko include Godwin Ablordey, Alex Dzanie, Aziz Ansah, Michael Osei, Prince Adu Poku, Prince Amoako, and Godfred Yeboah, Michael Osei Ember”, Issah Ahmed, Shiela Alhassan and Shiela Illiasu, among others

The game will commemorate Ghana’s 62nd Independence Day anniversary.

It will be supported by De Chris, Crystal Palm Hotel, KG Hotel, J.A Biney, K.K Pepprah Roofing, Dr Caesar Medi Moses, Jehovah is My Friend, JM Addo and End Point Homeopathy.

According to the organizers, a cool rate of GH¢5.00 for the Popular Stand, GH¢30.00 for VIP, GH¢20 for VIP and GH¢10.00 for Centre Line.
