AshGold made their intention clear early in the game, when they drew first blood in the second minute through Mohammed Yakubu.
The Phobians then woke up from their slumber and went in search of the equalizer which came in the 14th minute through a superb strike from Foovi Aguidi at the edge of AshGold’s goal area.
The game then settled and both teams displayed some excellent football to the delight of the small crowd at the stadium.
Eric Kumi almost gave Hearts the lead in the 20th minute, but his spectacular left foot drive went inches off the post, to the relief of AshGold fans.
Hearts created more decent chances after the equalizer with Foovi usually acting as the architect-in-chief.
AshGold, however, had the last chance of the half when Bernard Morrison dribbled his way through the Hearts defence, but his last shot was saved by Tetteh Luggard.
Both teams came into the second half in search of a winning goal, but AshGold once again took the lead in the 64th minute through Didier Kore who benefitted from Robin Gnagne’s defensive blunder and expectly found the back of the net.
Skipper Gnagne made up for his mistakes as he turned hero after winning a last-minute penalty for Hearts in additional time and converted.
This is the second time the encounter between the two teams ended in a draw, as the first round tie also ended with them walking away with a point each.
