Hearts’ CEO Defends Board’s Decision

KnwsAccra Hearts of Oak Managing Director Neil Armstrong Mortagbe has defended the decision by the Board of Directors to hold a meeting with the club’s stakeholders before announcing the final decision on dismissed Coach David Duncan’s fate, stating that it is the best way to avoid another revolt by Phobian fans.

Two weeks ago, Phobian fans stormed the Hearts of Oak secretariat at Asylum Down in Accra to interrupt a press conference and demand the return of Coach David Duncan to post.

“I think it is only fair that we show that we are learning from what happened last two weeks. We came out with a decision, which we hadn’t passed it by our stakeholders and we saw the reaction. It wouldn’t be indicative of the fact that this Board is a listening one for us to come out with a similar decision or a different decision without reaching out to our stakeholders and that is why we are meeting with our stakeholders and after that, there will be an official decision,” Mr. Armstrong Mortagbe said.

According to sources, the Hearts’  Board is not ready to reinstate Coach Duncan despite  pressure from the Phobian fans, meaning the stakeholders meeting is a mere formality not expected to satisfy supporters of the Rainbow club.
