Hearts Brace For Lions In Return Leg

hearts of oakThe technical team of Hearts of Oak believes the way their side responds to their Top 4 opening-day defeat to Heart of Lions will play a key role in defining their season.

“It is important not to let the mood drop after such a disappointing start that will be the difficulty. We will bounce back because the spirit and focus in the team is good, but I don’t deny that this is a massive disappointment for us,” assistant coach Stephen Abugri mentioned.

“We missed chances, we were a bit unlucky and we got some injuries, all three together. It is a fragile position. There was bit of fatigue as well after and all that together created this result.”

“What is important is to rebuild confidence before the match. It is a massive game for us. There is always a lot of danger in a team because it is a human activity multiplied by 25 – it means the negativity can spread quickly.”

“It is the first game of the season and we want to bounce back from it. Our season will depend on how we respond to this defeat. It is not an easy match; it is never easy to go to play Lions in front of a very enthusiastic crowd.

The Phobians will have to beat the Kpando based team by not less than two unanswered goals tomorrow if they have to top the group to face the winner of the Kotoko/Ashgold group.

And Abugri says the team has enough quality to respond positively at the Accra sports stadium tomorrow.

“It will be very tough but we are a confident team and if you want to play at the highest level we should be going to Accra stadium tomorrow to get a flawless win.”

“I wouldn’t say the atmosphere affects the players but you enjoy it that bit more when the crowd is buzzing and it is so intense. I love it. You try a little bit harder when the fans are on top of you.”

“We just want to win the game and move on.”
