‘Hare Krishna’ dies fighting over food

Kweison Jake Asibu with the kniefA fight between two members of the Hare Krishnar Sect, over food has resulted in the death of one of them at Medie, a suburb of Accra.

Kweison Jake Asibu, 28 is said to have stabbed Kwabena Gabudzi, 33 with a knife in the chest, leading to his death.

Briefing the media, Superintendent George Kumah, the Adjen-Kotoku District Police Commander disclosed, on May 9, at about 10:30am, the suspects, together with the deceased went to morning devotion organised by the Sect.

He said after the devotion members of the Sect were asked to clean the premises, but Asibu refused.

According to him, the leader, Mr. Yaw Asante Krobia had earlier instructed that anyone who did not participate in the clean up exercise should not be given food, adding that Asibu went for his food but the deceased collected it from him and poured it way.

Sup. Kumah said Asibu got angry and confronted the deceased which resulted in an argument, “Asibu went to his room after the breakfast and brought a knife and attempted to stab the deceased,” he revealed.

Another member, Ochia tried to prevent Asibu, but he slashed Ochia’s arm twice with the knife.

He said Asibu went ahead, attacked and stabbed the deceased in the chest twice and the deceased bled profusely, and was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Sup. Kumah said the body had been deposited at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
