The Leelamp Foundation in collaboration with the International Handball Federation will organise its maiden Ga Homowo Handball Gala on August 25, 2015 at the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex Kaneshie.
According to the founder of the Leelamp Foundation, Lemuel Lamptey, the ‘theme’ for the competition is “Empowering of discipline in the game of handball”.
Speaking at the lunch of the competition, Mr Lamptey said discipline is what he is seeking for in the game of handball. “There is a saying that charity begins at home and so we want to foster unity with this discipline aspect”.
He added that the competition will be held annually in the country and called on corporate entities to support them organize handball competition in order to promote the sport in the country.
Invited dignitaries that will be at the competition include Minister for Youth and Sports Dr. Mustapha AHMED, Member of Parliament for Talensi, Mr Benson Tongo Baba, Mr Saka Acquaye Deputy Director General, National Sports Authority and President of the Ghana Handball Association, Hon. Ken Girasah .The competitor will include HOSTAC, RENIJOE, LEGONITE, ASOMDWE, CANTONMENT YOUTH, LEKMA and the WINNEBA YOUTH.
