BLACK Stars’ skipper, Asamoah Gyan touched down at the Pudong Airport in China to a huge awaiting crowd as he nears the completion of his mega move to ambitious Chinese club Shanghai SIPG.
Gyan, accompanied by brother Baffour Gyan and spokesperson Anim Addo, arrived in Xuhui yesterday to complete the deal which would fetch him a mouthwatering sum of $350,000 (£227,000), becoming the highest paid African footballer.
The Black Stars’ captain received a warm reception from the crowd that trooped to the Pudong Airport to catch a glimpse of their new super star.
The Black Stars captain made quick halts for spot-interviews and sign some autographs as he made his way through a sea of affectionate supporters of his prospective new employers.
He was immediately driven to a hotel after which he was to undergo a medical examination before signing onto a contract.
However,Gyan’s scheduled medical and unveiling ceremony at Shanghai SIPG was postponed to today.
He arrived in China yesterday afternoon to a rapturous reception.
Gyan will rather be hosted by high ranking officials of the club in the evening.
The striker will later in the evening be one of the special guests at Shanghai SIPG’s FA Cup match against Guangzhou R&F.
The Ghanaian international was given the all-clear to leave Dubai by Al Ain on Tuesday after the UAE giants accepted an offer from Shanghai SIPG.
