Gomoaba Nana Apata Kofi V, the Guantoahene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, in the Central Region, has commended Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for winning the just-ended general elections.
He also praised President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), for conceding defeat and congratulating the President-elect, saying the political maturity of the two leaders had contributed to the success of the polls.
He advised other contestants, who lost the polls, to overcome the psychological effect of the defeat, come together and contribute to the political discourse of the country.
Nana Apata Kofi, who is also the chief of Gomoa Pomadze, in the Central Region, was addressing members of the various political parties in the area, at Pomadze on Thursday.
He reminded political parties, especially the NDC and the NPP, that they have a crucial role to play in the country’s socio-economic and political development.
Nana Apata Kofi cautioned supporters of political parties to refrain from acts of violence and vandalism, to preserve the peace and stability of the country.
“We must, as citizens of one nation, always remind ourselves that we are one people with a common destiny seeking to build a lovely and progressive society beneficial to the present and future generations”, he advised.
Nana Apata Kofi expressed the hope that both winners and losers in the elections would unite towards national development.
He urged all religious organisations in the country to intensify their prayers for divine guidance, protection, peace and prosperity of Ghana.
