GSMA supports Ga South Health Directorate with facilities

Two health facilities costing a total sum of GH¢608,306.48, put up by the Ga South Municipal Assembly, were handed over to the Ga South Health Directorate, in the Greater Accra Region on Thursday.

The facilities are a female ward at the Amanfro Polyclinic, funded from the District Development Fund (DDF), at a cost of GH¢339,547.01 and a CHPS Compound at Tomefa, funded from the Assembly Common Fund at a cost of GH¢268,759.47.

Handing over the projects, Mr Joseph Stephen Nyarni said, the facilities were to improve the health status of the people in the area.

He said, his first visit to the Amanfro Polyclinic revealed a serious lack of a well equipped female ward and shortage of beds for pregnant women, and therefore, decided to put up a befitting female block for the pregnant women for the safe delivery of their babies.

According to him, it was a promise he made to the people in the area during his campaign.

He assured the people of putting up more development projects in the area, to improve on their standard of living.

At Tomefa, the MCE said, the people lacked a health care facility and therefore he decided to put up a health facility for them.

The situation, he said prompted the Assembly to put up a CHPS Compound, to improve the health issues in the area.

On his part, Dr Bright Davies-Teye, the municipal officer of the Health Directorate, thanked the assembly for coming to the aid of the polyclinic and assured the MCE, of taking good care of the facilities.
