The Omanhene of the Nsein Traditional Area, Awulae Agyefi Kwame II, has asked the Ghana Rubber Estates Limited to establish a Rubber Out Growers Plantations Project (ROPP), to offer technical assistance to the rubber farmers.
Such a move, he said would help increase production and income levels of farmers.
Awulae Kwame made the appeal at the 2016 Annual Kundum at Nsein in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region, the theme: “Peace and Unity-Prospect for Community Advancement”.
He said the project which started in 1995 had benefited about 7,500 people within the catchment area and had offered direct and indirect employment to more than 20,000 people.
The paramount chief urged President John Mahama to help revamp the rubber industry, which according to the chief was a source of employment to the youth.
The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle who is also the Minister for Petroleum, Mr. Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah promised that the concerns of the farmers would be addressed, to improve the rubbers industry.
