Grace Preparatory and Junior High School in Accra has held its speech and prize-giving day, with a call on parents to pay more attention to the growth of children.
The event, which also coincided with the 20th anniversary of the school, had the theme, “Our children, our future.”
A total of 47 JHS Three and 28 kindergarten pupils graduated at the ceremony.
Mrs. Abena Adukpo, headmistress of the school, reminded parents of the need to actively partner teachers to promote the education of children, adding that the development of children was a collective responsibility.
Apart from the financial commitments, she reminded parents of the need to supervise the homework of children, and monitor their performance to ensure academic excellence.
She gave the assurance of the school’s commitment towards offering quality education, adding that the school remains mindful of its role as bedrock for societal development.
Touching on developments in the school, she said the ICT facility was being upgraded and expanded to accommodate more pupils.
Mr. Augustine Simons, head of Ghana Fixed Income Market Secretariat at the Ghana Stock Exchange, who chaired the event, urged the school to encourage the children to read by recommending relevant books for them while advising parents to support and motivate teachers to deliver.
