This follows a successful conclusion of acquisition of land by the government from chiefs in the area between Sekondi and Takoradi for a free zones enclave.

Mr. Iddrisu said, the government was committed to developing the area into an industrial hub to attract foreign investors into the Western Region.

He said, the government was paying half of the full amount and appealed to the land owners to accept the other half as equity for posterity to enjoy some benefits.

The Minister said the manufacturing sector would be sustained and developed by adding value to the produce to make more money.

He disclosed that about $67 million was allocated to the Sekondi Industrial Development Area.
He appealed to the chiefs not to allow any encroachment or squatters on the land.

Nana Kwesi Badu II, thanked the government for the cheque and assured that anybody who encroached on the land would be ejected. - Peter Gbambila, Mpintsin
