Golf-Achimota beat IBB

golf2PREMIER Club Achimota Golf Club shrugged off their first day defeat to subdue their Nigerian counterparts IBB Golf Club from Abuja 58-23 in their special golf competition at Achimota last Sunday.

The visitors, led by Hon Tam Brisibe started 36-Hole Medal Play, on a good footing, carrying the first day, the Frank Adu Junior led side lifted their play on day two to ensure the giant trophy at stake remained in the country.

Club president Attah Nyamekye paid glowing tribute to Frank Adu Junior for his immense contribution in giving the Achimota Club a phase lift saying, “Achimota Golf Club will forever be indebted to you, you and your team have really done our great club an honour by way of infrastructure and other areas as well.

“If you are captain, you must leave a legacy and what we are witnessing here is a clear testament of that trait. We have to regularize this competition and think of a suitable format.”

Frank Adu Junior summarized the two-day event and said “It’s been two days of beautiful golf, there was no winner and loser, it was all about golf.

“We are planning of developing three other clubs in the country to promote golf tourism. I suggest golfers buy their caddies a bottle of drink after following us on the course, it’s courteous and humane,” he added.

Hon Brisibe pointed out that “It’s been a wonderful experience, our members looked for this event for the past two years, due to the club’s closure for renovation purposes.”

The competition received massive sponsorship from Devtraco Plus and support from GT Bank and Zenith Bank Ghana.
