Golden Tulip Union Executive Inaugurated

SONY DSCNewly-elected executives and shop stewards of the Golden Tulip Hotel Local Union of the Industrial and Commercial Workers’ Union (ICU) have been inaugurated.

The nine-member executives include the Chairman, Thomas Mingle as President with Awal Mohammed as his Assistant, Henrietta Boakye, Secretary and Leticia Addo, Assistant Secretary.

The rest are Mustapha Quansah, First Trustee; Alfred Danquah, Second Trustee; Anita Osei Afriyie, Executive Member; Emelia Biney the Women’s Representative and Michael Luther, Youth Representative.

Performing the inauguration, the Deputy General Secretary of ICU, Morgan Ayawine, asked them to be circumspect in their dealings with management and to encourage their colleagues to work hard to make their organisation the best and first destination for customers.

“You must do everything possible to avoid conflicts that have the potential of bringing the union into disrepute.  If you find yourselves in any situation that is above your mandate, do not hesitate to refer some to our mother union, ICU-Ghana for advice or better still, handle such technical matters as may be appropriate,” he added.

The Union Chairman Thomas Mingle, in his acceptance speech, assured his colleagues and management that his team would work to the best of its ability and in the interest of both the organisation and the workers.

The Human Resource Manager, Mrs. Araba Quagrine, assured the Union executives and the employees that management’s doors were open to dialogue.

She urged the union executives to work close with management and also reason with them to create good working conditions for the employees. By Lucy Pomaa Arthur
