Golden Hands Prepare For African Challenge

Head coach of the national U-20 handball team, Mr. George Bankole believes the teams will excel at the upcoming African U- 20 Zone III Youth Challenge tournament in Lome, Togo.

Ghana would be represented by the U-20 male and female teams.

According to him, the team is capable of robbing shoulders with their counterparts from other countries and hoped to return with laurels.

In an interview with the Times Sports, Coach Bankole said the team’s participation in the Togo event would serve as a preparatory ground for the upcoming ECOWAS games to be hosted by Cote d’Ivoire next month.

He said female team is made up of new players selected from the schools and colleges, adding that, I am trying as much as possible to get them in shape for the tournament.

“The men are already used to playing together and have had the opportunity to play outside,” he stated.

The tournament will have other countries like Mali, Benin, Nigeria, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire, Niger and host nation Togo participating, starting from today July 29 to August 5 this year.

Also at the tournament, a training course for coaches and referees would be held for coaches and referees.  By Jemima Esinam Kuatsinu
