The second edition of the Women In Sports Association (WISA) Awards ceremony is set to be launched on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the Ghana Olympic Committee board room at 10am.

The award which is aimed at recognising women in sports who make sports look attractive to young girls and in the process become coaches, administrative staff and sports journalists.

According to the organisers, the event will commemorate the 4th anniversary of WISA which would be celebrated in the last quarter of the year.

Ghandour Cosmetics are the headline sponsors of the event. Other supporters are Accra Price, NB Sports and African Sports Media Network based in the USA.

Meanwhile, Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has called on corporate bodies to support the Baby Jet promotions U-16 tournament.

Gyan’s promotional outfit announced the Under-16 tournament for football academies in Africa aimed at offering fantastic packages including training with top European clubs to the best players and sides.

The invitational tournament features clubs from Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Togo and Nigeria. They will play at the Accra Academy Astro-Turf.

The 33 year old national team skipper took to twitter to confirm the tournament and asked corporate bodies to be a part of the worthy course.

“I invite corporate Ghana to support this initiative to start the agenda to help bring back grassroots football to the level it deserves.”

The 16 teams include Nigerian sides ATFA FC (Lagos) and Campos Football Academy (Owerri).

Togolese side Pison Divine Royals Int. Foundation Academy and Academy Ro Mario will be joined by Ivorian duo All-Stars FC and Zenox FC.

The local teams will feature Great Somas, Cheetah FC, Bolga Soccer Masters, Star Madrid FC, Cedar Stars Academy and Charity Stars.
