Girl’s body found buried at school

The Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Command, has begun investigations into circumstances leading to the murder of a six-year-old girl whose body was found at a school at Penkwase in the Sunyani municipality.

The child, Ama Dora, who lived with her mother at Old Abesim, a village near Sunyani Barracks, was reported missing on Saturday and the body was found buried at the premises of Infant Jesus Preparatory School yesterday.

Briefing The Ghanaian Times, ASP Christopher Tawiah, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer, said the mother of the girl reported the matter to the police on Sunday.

He said she left her daughter at home and went to the farm, but on return, the child could not be found.

He said she reported the case to the Assemblyman for the area and a search party went round to look for the child but to no avail.

ASP Tawiah said the police later had information that a body had been buried on the school premises and the police exhumed it and found out it was the missing girl.

He said an inspection of the body, however, showed that there were no cuts, adding that the body had since been deposited at the Regional Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

ASP Tawiah said the headmaster of the school and others had been questioned by the police.
