The Shama community was on Wednesday gripped with shock when the  police  uncovered the severed  body  of a  six-year-old pupil (name withheld), of the Shama Methodist  Primary School, after she went  missing, for about 12 days.

The body, The Ghanaian Times learnt, was in a decomposed state when it was finally located at the SDA area of Shama.

The head had been separated from the body which was found in an uncompleted building.

The body has been deposited at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for post-mortem.

The police suspects foul play.

Briefing The Ghanaian Times here yesterday, the WesternRegional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, said on Friday, March 28, a sister of the girl sent her to buy charcoal and as at 8.45 p.m., the community realised that she was missing.

A report, she said, was made at the Shama Police Station and an announcement was made including wireless messages to all police stations.

ASP Adiku said that, it was not until Wednesday, April 9, when the police received a report that the decomposed body of the girl had been found in an uncompleted building at SDA in Shama.

“Unfortunately, it was the girl and the head was at a distance from where the body was lying. The mother Abo Djan, identified the   decomposed body by the beads at the waist,” she said.

“Foul play is suspected and investigations continue.” From Clement Adzei Boye, Sekondi
