Ghanaians Urged To Patronise Made-In-Ghana Goods

NduomGN Quarry and Concrete Products, a new quarry and concrete company, has been inaugurated at Bokodo Pershie, near Elmina in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem municipality of the Central Region.

The company, a subsidiary of GN Group of Companies, deals in chippings, quarry dust and boulders, to meet the demand of road contractors in the country.

Inaugurating the company, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, flag-bearer of the Convention People’s Party (PPP), the owner of the company, called on Ghanaians to patronise Made-in-Ghana products, rather than depending solely on imported products, which helps in boosting the economy of other nations.

He urged government to support local industries to be able to compete effectively with other industries across the globe.

Dr Nduom commended the government for its role in helping to shape the nation’s economy, and urged the authorities to collaborate with local companies in order to transform the country’s economy.

He stressed that the contribution of local industries was crucial to the country’s development because profit made would not be repatriated to any other country.

Dr. Nduom appealed to the government to use some of the revenue accrued from taxes collected from operators of hotels, to develop such areas.

He appealed to state officials to constantly engage operators of businesses and find ways of assisting them to make the necessary impact on the local and international scene.

The officer in-charge of quality control, Central Regional Office of the Ghana Highway Authority, Mr Eric Martin-Bruce, urged the company to produce quality products, to meet the high demand of the region.

The Risk Manager, Ghana Growth Fund, Mr Eric Osae, said the GN Group of Companies has planned to establish a printing press and a university at Elmina, to create employment.

He said that the quarry site had met all the requirement spelt out by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Minerals Commission, and gave the assurance that managers of the facility would work hard to maintain the standards.

The Chief of Peshie, Nana Amai Eduabo, expressed appreciation to the management of the company for establishing the site to bring development to the area. From David Yarboi-Tetteh, Bokodo Pershie
