Ghana YMCA partners Chemphe to roll out civic engagement mobile education

YMCA Ghana has partnered Chemphe, a Ghanaian singer to roll out a mobile civic education to equip young people to be able to contribute to development of their communities.

Dubbed Y Text, the project which is part of an advocacy strategy by the Ghana YMCA seeks to harness the influence of Chemphe to drive home the learnings of civic competence through periodic text messaging on related issues and happenings around us in order to shape thought, behaviour and promote positive citizenship among young people.

The project is on the influences of globalisation, technology and the multiplicity of interrelated political, moral, social, economic and leadership crisis.

The project would further develop an active interest in social developments in young people and empower them to determine their destiny and change their communities for the better.

The project will be running on all networks including MTN and Vodafone for young people to subscribe to receive messages on Civic Education and global opportunities by texting Y to 3701.

The project, which seeks to reach about 50,000 young people within a five-year period, would focus on civic rights and responsibilities, virtues and engagement.
