Ghana to host Mozambique in Tamale

MlkGHANA’S U23 will host Mozambique this Sunday at Tamale Sports Stadium in the return leg of the 2015 All Africa Games final round qualifier.

The Black Meteors are seeking to overturn the 1-0 deficit from the first leg played in Maputo three weeks ago.

Midfielder Kwadwo Poku scored on own goal to give the hosts after a solid performance.

Head coach Malik Jabir has been preparing with his boys at the Ghanaman Soccer School of Excellence.

“I think we are ready for the game on Sunday. We have corrected our mistakes from the first leg and we are psyched up for a good result in the second leg,” Jabir told the Daily Graphic.

Ghana won gold at the last All Africa Games in Maputo in 2011.

The football event at year’s Games will run from 03-18 September in Brazzaville, Congo..

The team is used to playing most of its home matches at the Accra Sports Stadium.

But the management team has resolved to shift the game up north to Tamale.

“Management have resolved that the game be played in Tamale,” Ghana U23 management committee chairman MNS Doe disclosed.

“We have written to CAF and the Mozambicans to communicate this decision to them.

“This forms part of the spreading of national team games to regional capitals with the facilities to host us.”
