Ghana to host AWCON 2018 draw Oct 21

Ghana will host the draw for the 2018 Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday, October 21, the Confederation of Africa Football has announced.

The announcement was made on Monday to set minds at ease of Ghana’s readiness to stage the women football showpiece.

It also confirms CAF’s conviction over Ghana’s readiness to host the event ahead of its final inspection of the Accra and Cape Coast stadia facilities which were given massive rehabilitation.

The statement on the CAF website did not, however, mention the time and venue for the draw for the November 17 to December 1 championship.

Ghana will be joined by seven other countries including Algeria, Cameroon, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Mali, Zambia and South Africa.

CAF also announced the opening of the process for media accreditation for the official draw and final tournament of the Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Ghana.

It urged media interested in covering the official draw and final tournament to apply for accreditation through the CAF Media Channel via but reminded that approval to access the CAF Media Channel does not guarantee accreditation.

“All applications are subject to confirmation. Confirmation will not be on a first-come, first-served basis. Successful applicants will be notified and provided with further information in due course. Furthermore, please be advised that international applicants are responsible for securing their own visas,” it added.
