Ghana serious about 2018 AWCON – LOC

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) chairperson for the Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) Freda Prempeh says the country is serious about hosting the tournament next month.

Ghana’s fate as hosts hanged in the balance after reports that CAF had withdrawn the hosting rights for the organisa  tion of the flagship women’s tournament.

Last month, CAF stated a final decision will be taken next month when a meeting of the tournament’s organising committee is held in the Egyptian capital Cairo after receiving inspection visit reports.

But Ms Prempeh has assured that all venues will be ready and logistics secured for the tournament.

”The Cape coast stadium and Accra Sports Stadium will be ready in two weeks and we will have the draw in Ghana, All efforts to host the seven participating countries and make them comfortable is done especially transportation. We are very serious about hosting the 2018 AWCON,” she said on Asempa FM.

”I want to dismiss all media reports that CAF has stripped us off the hosting rights. Next week we will launch the event in the capital,” she said.-Ghanasoccernet.com
