The Ghana Power lifting Federation (GPF) will hold its maiden national championships in March, 2019.

The event will be held on March 2-3 with the finals set for Ghana’s Independence Day, March 6.

Officials of the GPF say registration was underway and set to end January 31, 2019. Audition will take place in the Northern sector (February 9), middle sector (Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and Western regions) and the Southern sector (Greater Accra, Central, Eastern and Volta regions).

The winner will receive prizes and also get the chance to represent Ghana outside the country as well.

Power lifting is a strength sport consisting of three main lifts: the squat, the bench press and the dead lift. It has been a paralympic sport since 1984.
