Ghana Post worker in court for stealing motorcycle

A dispatch rider of Ghana Post, head office, who allegedly stole the company’s motorcycle, has been granted GH¢10,000 bail with two sureties by an Accra circuit court.

Dizaogl Renius pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing, and would appear again on October 15.

Sergeant Jonas Lawer, who presented the fact of the case, said, on January 27, 2017, the motorcycle with registration number M-15-GT-847 was assigned to Michael Venekumwini, but the motorcycle was stolen from the company’s premises.

Prosecution said, on September 2, 2017, at about 12:30pm, Renius, who was not on duty, made entries of his official motorcycle with number M-16-GT-2971 in the company’s vehicle movement book that he was going out with the motorcycle.

According to Sgt Lawer, Renius did not send the said motorcycle out, but rather stole a Yahama YBR125 motorcycle with registration number M-16-GT-2483 parked in the yard of the company.

The court heard that Renius parked the motorcycle at El-Wak Sports Stadium to look for a buyer, but Venekumwini saw the motorcycle and alerted the Police patrol team.
