The Ghana Christian University College (GCUC) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UNICAF, an organisation that provides scholarships for African students and others worldwide to pursue internationally recognised online degree programmes.
The agreement would offer students UNICAF scholarship programme to enable them to study any degree of their choice with one of its partner institutions, University Of South Whales Of Nicosia in Europe, the University of Marymount California in America and the UNICAF University.
The two parties also signed an agreement to make the GCUC a center for UNICAF in Ghana.
The agreement between the two educational institutions stipulates that GCUC will provide all the necessary teaching facilities to enable students in Ghana, to study undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes offered through UNICAF.
The Chief Executive Officer of UNICAF, Dr. Nicos Nicolaou who signed the documents, said the partnership would provide better opportunities for quality higher education.
He also said UNICAF had plans to expand the partnership in the future with more recognised degree programmes at a lower cost.
Dr. Nelson S. Ahalijah, president of the school, said the agreement between the two institutions was timely and expressed the hope that it would benefit both institutions.
“It is our hope that the agreement encourages even larger number of people to enroll on the programmes made available by UNICAF and Unicaf University, and take that first crucial step in changing their lives,” he said.
Dr. Ahalijah said the agreement was well chosen for Ghanaian students who would want to study abroad, adding that it offered them the opportunity to work together to expand more courses.
