The Ghana Education Service (GES) has declared September 8 as the re-opening date for Senior High and September 13 for the Basic Schools, for the 2016/17 academic year.
In that regard, the GES has asked teachers, students and parents to hold themselves in readiness for the re-opening to ensure a successful academic year.
A statement signed by the Reverend Jonathan Bettey,Head of Public Relations Department of GES, reminded the heads of both the basic and second cycle institutions that the academic year’s calendar remained unchanged
It therefore urged educational stakeholders to disregard any information in circulation contrary to the announced dates.
Meanwhile, the GES has debunked a publication being circulated on social media indicating the supposed new fees of Senior High Schools for the first term of the 2016/2017 academic year.
The statement signed by Rev. Bettey to refute the publication said “management would like to distance itself and that of GES from the publication, which is not just misleading but also false.”
“It is, however, to be noted that any issues on school fees and levies for students shall be communicated to parents and the general public soon,” it added.
