Gbidukor Planning Committee presents cheque for GH¢15,000 to Hohoe Municipal Ambulance Fund

The Gbidukor Planning Committee in the Hohoe Municipality has presented a cheque for GHC15, 000.00 to the Hohoe Municipal Ambulance Fund in support of the ambulance service for the Municipal Hospital.

Mr Kingsley Freelove Amu, Co-Chair of the Gbidukor Steering Committee in an address, said the gesture by Gbidukor         Planning Committee was an expression of their interest in the welfare of its people in promoting quality healthcare and safety standards.

He  said it  was disheartening that a major hospital in the area  had  no functioning ambulance, though road crashes and other emergencies occurred daily, adding that with their support and others soon to come, it would  help enhance the ambulance service in the municipality.

Mr Kingsley Freelove Amu, commended the Member of Parliament for the area, Dr. Bernice Adiku Heloo, for her benevolence in acquiring the vehicle for the facility.

Dr. Pius Mensah, Medical Superintendent of the Hohoe Municipal Hospital who received the cheque thanked the committee members for the gesture.

According to him, the only ambulance at the hospital, a donation from the MP is currently under repairs, a situation which has led to inefficiencies in the hospital’s referral system.

He further said several other challenges exacerbated by the absence of the ambulance such as delays in acquiring service from other hospitals due to proximity which has in some cases led to fatalities.

He therefore urged other stakeholders to keep its ambulance service on wheels and running in its management of referral cases.

The chairman of the Hohoe Ambulance Fund Committee, Nana Bulley Osai VII, called for a second look at the Municipal Ambulance Fund.
