SINGLE handicapper Teye Lartey Gbebei last Saturday left the Tema Country Golf Club as winner of the second edition of the Access Bank Medal Play.
Playing on handicap eight, Gbebei, 68, beat Godwin Asem and SK Afari by just a stroke.
Tema Country Golf Club, Lady captain Esther Antwi, beat Mercy Werner on countback with a 77 score, while fashionable Cathy Boateng finished tops in the ladies Group B event after a 76 score, three clear points ahead of Gladys Awuni.
The men’s Group B prize went to Japhet Achola, who recorded a 70net with FK Owusu Adjapong 72net beating E. Appiah Korang on countback in second position.
Sensational Vincent Torgah, after a 70net grabbed the pros’ ultimate prize with Baba Akologo and Emmanuel K. Osei trailing.
Club captain Joshua Peprah commended golfers for turning up in their numbers and praised Access Bank for coming on board as the title sponsor of the growing event.
Group Head, Business Banking of Access Bank, Fosuhene Acheampong, noted in a post-event interview that his outfit’s support for the sport formed part of plans to promote golf in the country.
Golfers who distinguished themselves took home beautifully designed trophies as well as special cash prizes.
