The Governing Board of Directors of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), has appointed Betty Apau-Opong, as the new Director of Ghana Television (TV), with effect from January 1, 2016.
Until her appointment, Mrs.Apau-Opong had acted as Director of Television for about two years.
A statement by GBC, said she joined the corporation on July 12, 1977, as Assistant Reporter of GBC Radio Newsroom, and six months later, moved to GBC TV Newsroom, where she sharpened her television news writing and production skills.
It said Mrs.Apau-Oppong attended the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) from 1975 to 1977 and pursued a course in News and Current Affairs at the RNTC in the Netherlands, in 1988.
She was enrolled at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in 2011, and pursued a two-year Masters’ Degree in Governance and Leadership.
With her wide range of experience in television production, Mrs. Apau-Oppong promised to improve upon the quality of Ghana TV programmes, the statement said.
It indicated that the new director said, “As Director of Television, my vision is to bring change on the screen and make it a must-watch with quality educative, informative and entertainment programmes. I would also provide variety of programmes that would keep viewers glued to their TV sets.”
