Ga South Assembly Members Root For Jerry Akwei Thompson

IMG_8695Some assembly members of the Ga South Municipal Assembly (GSMA), have called on the President John Dramani Mahama to re-nominate Jerry Akwei Thompson, as the Municipal Chief Executive of the area.

According to them, the call was necessitated by the hard work of Mr. Acquaye, who has served the municipality in honesty and sincerity, stressing that under his leadership the municipality has been able to unravel fraudulent activities going on in the assembly.

David Braide, an assembly man and spokesperson, stated that his sincerity led to the arrest and prosecution of some management staff and their accomplices for the embezzlement of funds.

The assembly members, disclosed this in a press conference yesterday, in Accra. They assured the government of their support for Mr. Thompson and stated that they would ensure his approval when re-nominated by the President.

Mr. Braide said, the MCE had been able to rehabilitate some markets; renovated a clinic at Kwame Anum, built three-unit classroom blocks with ancillary facilities at Jude and new Weija and many others projects under a period of one year.

However, he said his determination to curb corrupt activities at the municipality was the rationale behind some NDC youth requesting for his removal.

Speaking on behalf of the assembly members, Mr. Braide said that they have confidence in the MCE, because his appointment has brought about relative peace and sanity in the entire municipality.

He said the Assembly was able to generate GH¢311,397.38.00 in the first quarter of the year, as part of its Internally Generated Fund. – Collins Boateng
