Fund-raising for Disability Sports rescheduled

The Richoff Disability Sports and Educational Foundation’s (RDSEF) musical fundraising previously scheduled for April 30 this year has been postponed to July 18 at the State Banquet Hall for proper arrangements and organization.

The event which was aimed at raising adequate funds for the building of a multi purpose sports and educational academy in Komenda in the Central Region was postponed due to the emergence of issues relating to the venue.

The marketing manager of RDSEF, Miss Irene Oppong said the event will now be a fundraising dinner instead of the initial musical fundraising event.

“We have been informed by the authorities of the Banquet Hall that the venue is not allowed for musical shows and has since decided to change programme,” she disclosed.

According to her members of the sporting fraternity and other dignitaries in the country and beyond are expected to grace the occasion.

The multi purpose sports and educational academy would be situated on a 40 acre land given to the foundation freely by the chief of Komenda Dominase Nana Kow Baisie II

The academy when completed would train persons with disability in sports and vocational skills to help take them off the streets and give them a meaningful life.

The multi purpose academy according to the organizers will help develop talents from the grassroots level which will produce national athletes in the near future.
