Frimpong saves day for Kotoko

Amos Frimpong scored his eight goal of the season to secure Kotoko a point against Sekondi Hasaacas at the Essipun Stadium yesterday in their GPL week 26 match.

Samuel Afful’s second half strike was cancelled out by Frimpoing to maintain Kotoko’s fine record at Sekondi.

The home team made a positive start, attacking Kotoko in droves but was unlucky to fetch the opening goal before the half hour mark as they fluffed a couple of great opportunities.

Porcupine Warriors goalie Felix Annan made a breath-taking save in the 12th minute before Amuzu squandered a one-on-one chance after ghosting past Kotoko center back Evans Quao.

But Kotoko found their rhythm and dictated play and caused the defense of Hasaacas problems. Twice veteran goalkeeper George Owu was called into action and he did not disappoint.

First repelling a curling effort from Eric Donkor before denying Dauda Mohammed a goal with a good save as the first half ended barren.

Hasaacas just like in the first started the second department the better side with Kotoko on the back foot. But Felix Annan stood between them and a goal, saving some murky situations.

They finally took the lead through Samuel Afful in the 74th minute but Amos Frimpong for the umpteenth time this season scored a penalty two minutes later to cancel the lead.
