The Adentan Police in the Greater Accra Region have arrested four people for attempting to swindle a trader of GH¢75,000.
The suspects are, Haruna Yusif, 42, herbalist, Tijani Ahmed, 43, a businessman, Beatrice Naa Ajeeley, 39, trader and Anafi Mohammed, 27.
They allegedly approached the complainant (name withheld), a trader to part with GH¢75,000 so that they could double the amount for him.
A police source told The Ghanaian Times that the complainant who had once been a victim feigned interest and asked them to convince him by demonstrating the procedure to him.
The source said, the suspects, true to their words brought out an equipment which they claim was the money printing machine and some chemicals.
It said they mixed the chemicals to start printing GH¢5 notes but after printing one GHc5 note, the equipment failed to function.
The source stated that the complainant was convinced that the four wanted to dupe him, and informed the police who apprehended them.
According to the source, the suspects told the police that they had over the past five years defrauded over 50 people around the country.
It said investigations were ongoing and the suspects would soon be arraigned before court.
