Four arrested for raiding MP’s house

Four persons are in the grips of the Daboase Police in the Wassa East Constituency of the Western Region for ransacking the residence of the Member of Parliament for the area during collation of election results on Wednesday night.

The MP, Isaac Adjei Mensah was at the constituency collation centre on Wednesday night when the four thugs burgled his residence but luck eluded them as some civilians managed to arrest them and handed over to the Police.

One other person who was part of a gang that disrupted collation of election results at the constituency has also been arrested.

The cutlass-wielding gang on Wednesday night, stormed the Wassa East District Assembly hall where the December 7 elections results were being collated, and temporarily locked up electoral officials, party agents and security personnel.

The man on his arrest claimed he was travelling from Kumasi to Accra when he was called by one George to come to the Wassa East Constituency to help as a polling agent for the New Patriotic Party with the promise of being given GHC300.

According to him, although he came to the constituency as a polling agent, he was asked to be a guard, but denied being part of the said thugs, “I didn’t fight”.

A talisman, said to have some spiritual protection, was found around his waist at the time of his arrest.

He denied ownership of the item claiming it was given to him to deliver to someone but decided to wear it.
