Footballer jailed for defiling minor

A Circuit Court in Accra last Wednesday sentenced a 19-year-old footballer to seven years imprisons for defiling a 14-year-old girl at Sukura, a suburb of Accra.

Emmanuel Quaye, charged with defilement, pleaded guilty, and the court presided over by Mrs Rita Agyemang Budu convicted him on his own plea.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Grace Bandah said on April 18, this year, the victim left home to visit a female friend at Sukura.

Quaye met her on the way, invited her to his house and detained her for three days and had sex with her.

On April 21, this year, the girl returned home and when she was questioned narrated her ordeal to her family.

The matter was reported to the police and she was issued a medical form to attend hospital for treatment.

Quaye was subsequently arrested.
