Football administrator commends govt

PobeeFootball Administrator and owner of Neoplan Stars in Kumasi, Mr. Abbey Pobbi, has commended the government of Ghana for taking a bold step in slashing the Black Stars bonus from $10,000 to $5,000.

The vociferous football administrator commended the new government led by President Akuffo Addo and Sports Minister-designate Isaac Asiamah for listening to the fans and reducing the bonus.

Mr. Pobee also thanked the Black Stars players for accepting a pay cut and urged them to put money issues behind them and concentrate on the task ahead of them.

“It’s good and we have to praise them for that; I will also like to give all the credit to the new government for taking such a bold decision.”

“This act will change the fans’ perception about the Stars players and the fans will start following them again as the love will also return which could take them far in the ongoing tournament,” he noted.

The Stars have agreed to take $5,000 as winning bonus at all stages in the African Cup of Nations instead of the $10,000 they have been receiving in the past.

The senior national team has been tagged as a money-loving team by the Ghanaian supporters and in a way to win back the support of their fans has reduced their bonuses.
