Fmr Kotoko coach Malik Jabir urges Akonnor to be submissive, tolerant

Former coach of Asante Kotoko, Malik Jabir has urged new trainer of the club C.K Akonnor to be submissive and tolerant in his new post.

C.K Akonnor signed a three year deal as the new coach of the club on Monday after Paa Kwesi Fabin resigned last month.

According to Malik Jabir, the Kotoko job comes with loads of pressure but tells Akonnor to be submissive to his bosses and especially the fans of the club.

He also asked Kotoko to be realistic in their decisions and expectations and set targets that will inure to the benefit of the two parties, adding that at this moment, a realistic target would be to strengthen the team to become a dominant force before thinking about conquering Africa. –Ghanacrusader

In a related development, another former coach of the club, Steve Pollack has called on the club to give new coach CK Akonnor more time.

The Englishman, who was relieved of his duties in February this year after their elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup, believes Akonnor will need maximum support to achieve his target.

”I don’t know him personally but I wish him the best after signing a three-year contract but in football signing a year or ten contract doesn’t mean you will be there but I believe they would give the manager enough time to show what he can do,” Pollack told Kumasi FM.

”’You don’t get the stability with that; you have to give him time. What he needs is the support from the people up there; they are quick to say we don’t need him so let’s sack him,”

”He has to be given enough time. Coaches make mistakes so they need to support him and be behind him. –Ghanacrusader
