The rains have also cut off many communities from the city as most of the roads have either been inundated or washed away by the flood waters.
The Assemblyman of the Sangnarigu-Dungu, Mr. Haruna Mumuni, confirmed the death to The Ghanaian Times in an interview yesterday.
He identified the deceased as Azara Alhassan, a middle age woman.
According to the Assemblyman, Azara was attempting to cross a foot bridge when she was carried away by the flood waters.
He said the body was found a distance away from her house by a search party.
Mr. Musah Suleman, a victim at Sawaba said the floods had carried away all belongings in the house.
The floods did not only displace the residents of the affected communities but that several properties worth millions of cedis had been destroyed.
Many school children of the worse affected communities could not go to schools due to the floods.
The Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Abubakari Abdullah who visited the victims expressed government’s condolence to the deceased family.
He said, the devastation caused by the floods was very huge and pledged to liaise with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to come to the aid of the victims.
Mr. Abdullah who lamented the extent of damage tasked the officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), to as a matter urgency compile the list of victims as soon as possible for assistance.
The DCE for Sangnarigu, Mohammed Alhassan Sorogodu and Regional Coordinator of NADMO accompanied the minister on the visit.
Worse affected areas included Dungu, Dubgu Kuku, Kunyevilla, Kalariga, Fuo and Gbewaa communities
