A LOCAL filling station being operated by a Fulani at Asasawa, near Timber Market in the Kintampo municipality of Brong Ahafo Region, was burnt to ashes yesterday, when it caught fire and exploded.
There was no casualty, but all the wooden structures nearby were destroyed.
According to fire service personnel,, the owner of the filling station, Ibrahim Deko, and his family who lived around the facility, managed to escape.
Briefing The Ghanaian Times, the Kintampo Municipal Fire Commander,Divisional Fire Officer (D.F.O.) Grade Three Nelson Duku, said the incident happened around 12:30pm yesterday.
He explained that the family of the station owners were boiling water and somebody was discharging petrol into a gallon when suddenly, it caught fire, burning everything around.
He said it took a combined team of the Fire Service and the police to quench the fire.
The commander said his outfit was investigating the incident, and the owner had been invited for questioning.
